Pathways to Research: Empowering Undergraduates, Led by McNair Scholars!

The McNair Scholars program is proud to announce the formation of a new student-led club: “Pathways to Research.” This club was developed by McNair students to address a need on campus—which is helping undergraduates connect with research opportunities, build professional relationships, and access valuable resources. The club’s motto, “Research, Connections, and Resources for Undergrads, by Undergrads,” reflects its mission: to create a supportive community where students can learn from and support one another on their academic journeys.

“Pathways to Research” is open to all undergraduates who are curious about research or eager to get involved in scholarly projects. Through workshops, guest speakers, and peer mentoring, the club provides practical guidance on everything from finding research mentors to preparing graduate school applications and more. Members benefit from a network of peers who have successfully navigated the early stages of research, making the process less intimidating and more accessible for them.

What makes this club unique is its foundation in the McNair Scholars community. Many McNair students are deeply involved in various campus organizations, bringing a wealth of experience and diverse perspectives to Pathways to Research. For example, our scholars are active leaders and members in clubs such as Psi Chi (the psychology honor society), Sociology Club, Black Student Union, Asian Pacific Islander Native Hawaiian Association (APINH), Asian Student Association (ASA), and more. Their engagement across these organizations strengthens the club’s network and allows for rich collaborations and cross-disciplinary insights.

By leveraging the knowledge and connections of McNair Scholars, Pathways to Research is building a bridge for undergraduates to step confidently into the world of research. The club is a testament to the power of student initiative and the importance of community support in academic success. We invite all interested undergraduates to join, learn, and grow with us!

Meetings are happening every Friday from 3-4pm, in Monroe Hall room 107, starting the first week of Winter Quarter 2026!
