Jasmine Joy Paloma: McNair Scholar Accepted to University of Michigan MSW Program!

Jasmine Joy Paloma, a first-generation college student and McNair Scholar, has been admitted to the University of Michigan’s prestigious Master of Social Work program. Currently majoring in social work with minors in psychology, sociology, and anthropology at EWU, Jasmine will graduate in spring 2026. Throughout her time at EWU, she has maintained a place on the dean’s list and demonstrated strong leadership as president of the Asian Student Association Club from 2022 to 2025, playing a key role in its establishment. Her research interests span the history of food, social justice, historical oppression, and marginalized groups, and under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Scully and Dr. Pui-Yan Lam, Jasmine researched barriers within community-based organizations serving immigrants and refugees in Spokane County. Committed to advancing social equity, Jasmine plans to pursue her PhD/master’s degree and use her expertise to empower and support marginalized communities. We are so proud of her!
