Jasmine Joy Paloma, McNair Scholar Accepted to the University of Washington MSW Program!

Jasmine Joy Paloma, a proud Trio McNair Scholar at Eastern Washington University, has been admitted to the University of Washington’s prestigious Master of Social Work program, where she was selected to pursue a specialization in administration and policy practice. As a first-generation college student, Jasmine has excelled academically, consistently earning a place on the dean’s list, and has played an active role in campus life. She notably served as president of the Asian Student Association Club from 2022 to 2025, helping to establish the organization and support fellow students.

Jasmine’s dedication to social justice, historical research, and advocacy for marginalized communities’ shines through in both her academic pursuits and research interests, which include the history of food, social justice, and the experiences of diverse groups. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Scully and Dr. Pui-Yan Lam, she engaged in a research project examining the facilitators and barriers faced by community-based organizations serving immigrants and refugees in Spokane County. With plans to attain her PhD/master’s degree, Jasmine is committed to using her education and experience to empower and uplift marginalized populations. Great job, Jasmine!!
