Evan Brown Selected as an EWU McNair Scholar and Awarded Summer Research Internship

Congratulations to new McNair Scholar Evan Brown! Evan was selected by the McNair Scholars’ selection committee on the basis of his passion for research, commitment to attaining a PhD, and overall potential for success in graduate school.

The federally-funded TRIO Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program at EWU selects motivated and talented juniors and seniors who are first-generation and low-income college students, and/or from groups underrepresented at the doctoral level to introduce them to academic research and provide them with effective strategies for getting into and graduating from PhD programs.

Evan Brown is an undergraduate at Eastern Washington University pursuing a major in Philosophy with minors in Business, Political Science, and Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies. Evan was accepted as a McNair Scholar Winter of 2023. His areas of research interests are Postmodernism, Queer Theory, Axiology, and Existentialism. He is currently Vice President of the Philosophy Club and is a Mentor for Aspire at local high schools. Some of Evan’s interests, when not engaged in Philosophy, include doing comedy, dance, listening to music, and making social media videos. Evan will conduct his 2024 McNair Summer Research Internship alongside EWU faculty research mentor Dr. Mimi Marinucci.

We look forward to accompanying Evan as his research unfolds!
