Compassionate Coping: Helping Ourselves and Our Students Navigate COVID-19

April 28, Tuesday, 12-1pm via Zoom facilitated by Russell Kolts, Professor of Psychology

The COVID-19 crisis represents a perfect storm of the sorts of things that humans find threatening: rapid change, isolation, unpredictability, and loss of control.  In this experience, we’ll connect and explore how to work with the challenges we find ourselves faced with right now.  We’ll draw upon principles of mindfulness and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to consider ways to help ourselves and our students manage stress and uncertainty, help ourselves and them feel safe, and consider how to help ourselves be centered and courageous as we navigate this weird version of reality.  The goal is for this to be a safe space for us to discuss the specific challenges we’re facing, and to support one another as we explore how to best work with them.
