A Hidden Gem on Campus Cultivates Healthy Food Options
Tucked away behind the Red Barn, well off the beaten path of hurried student footsteps, is a sort-of-secret organic garden, one producing row after row of fresh vegetables and tasty fruit.
If you have never made your way to the far southwest corner of EWU’s Cheney campus, you’ve probably never seen it. EWU Sustainability Coordinator Erik Budsberg thinks that’s a shame. Do yourself a favor, he urges: Pick a nice sunny afternoon and stroll over to the EWU Community Garden and have a look at what he and his volunteers have been up to.

Grant to Help EWU Preserve Natural Land on Campus
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has selected Eastern Washington University to receive funding under the EPA’s Environmental Education Grants Program (EPA-EE). The funding will help efforts to restore natural habitat around campus.
Overall, the EPA is distributing $3.3 million to support projects nationwide, with organizations receiving anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 for environmental education activities and programs.
The EWU grant supports the Palouse Prairie Region Restoration Project, which actively involves the regional community in restoration of a native ecosystem, raising public awareness...

Interdisciplinary Science Center Groundbreaking

Please join EWU President Mary Cullinan, Washington state legislators, and the EWU campus community to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Interdisciplinary Science Center.
Located on the EWU campus in Cheney, this four-level, 101,352 square-foot teaching laboratory will sit between the existing Science Building and the Pence Union Building.

State lawmakers fund EWU Interdisciplinary Science Center
Eastern Washington University will now begin the process of building the long-awaited Interdisciplinary Science Center (ISC) after the state Legislature approved the 2017-19 capital budget.
The budget includes the full amount of $67 million that Eastern had requested for the ISC. Gov. Inslee signed the $4.2 billion capital budget package Friday, which also includes $11.7 million for other EWU campus projects……..
