Who Must Comply
All Principal Investigators (PIs) and senior/key personnel listed on federal research proposals must complete approved research security training and maintain documentation. The PI is responsible for ensuring compliance and retaining records.
Process Overview
1. Identify all senior/key personnel for the proposal.
2. Ensure each senior/key personnel complete approved research security training (see below).
3. PI collects and retains documentation of training completion.
4. Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) certifies compliance during proposal submission.
5. OGRD reviews and updates training options annually.
Training Instructions
Approved training options include:
– NSF SECURE Center Training: https://www.nsf.gov
– CITI Program Research Security Training: https://about.citiprogram.org (will become the primary option once purchased; exceptions require written approval)
