eRA Commons Changes

What Is Changing?

Why Is This Important?

These changes affect compliance for all proposals and awards submitted on or after January 25, 2026. Failure to follow the new requirements may result in delays or rejection of submissions.

Who Does This Apply To?

  • All Senior/Key Personnel listed on an application or award.
  • Any new Other Significant Contributors added during the life of the award.

What Must Be Done?

  • Commons ID + ORCID: Ensure you have an active eRA Commons ID linked to your ORCID iD.
  • SciENcv: Use SciENcv to create and certify Biographical Sketch and CPOS documents.
  • Upload Requirements:
    • Upload certified PDFs from SciENcv without alteration.
    • Foreign contract documents (if applicable) must be uploaded separately as flattened PDFs.
  • Applies to:
    • Prior Approval requests (Change of PD/PI)
