
Theo Monet (he/they) is a first-generation transgender college student graduating in Spring 2027 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology. He served as the vice president of EWU’s Psi Chi International Psychology Honors Club from 2025-2026. He is also an officer in the Psychology Club, the Pathways to Research Club, and is founding the Anthropology Club. In 2025, Theo held a paid position on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student Advisory board at EWU. Since 2025, Theo has conducted research at EWU for both the anthropology and psychology departments. He serves as a research coordinator for the New Lab of Phenomenology, leading an ongoing research project investigating the relationship between U.S. national cultural affiliation, racial/ethnic cultural affiliation, and political affiliation on definitions of traditions. He is the sole investigator on a research project of his own design exploring public space, hostile design, accessibility, and infrastructural violence in Spokane. His research interests include: urban anthropology, social inequalities, housing policy, gentrification, political anthropology, and ethnography. He aims to utilize his own experiences living without shelter in his future career in advocacy and education. His long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in anthropology to utilize this education and research as means to shape policy, promote justice, and enact equitable collaborative initiatives to better lives.
