Welcome to the EWU McNair Program Questionnaire

This a a brief questionnaire and the first step in becoming a McNair Scholar!

After completion you will be invited to a Canvas course that will guide you through the rest of the application process.

  • EWU McNair supports first-generation and low-income and/or racially under-represented students in higher education who want to go on to get their PhD. McNair provides coaching and academic support to prepare students for graduate school and to complete competitive grad school applications, including a paid summer research internship! Each fall McNair seeks sophomores and juniors (and maybe seniors - ask us!) to join the McNair family so we can help you achieve your dreams. Even if you are a freshman, you can reach out to us and get advising and support now to help plan for graduate school and applying to the McNair program. Complete the questionnaire below to find out if you are eligible. If you go through the steps and you aren't sure or if you're worried you may not be eligible, please do reach out to us (cjaeger3@ewu.edu) to clarify. Once we receive this form, we will follow up! The deadline for McNair applications is in early December each year. But if your reaching out at another time of year or aren't sure you can complete the application by then, please do still complete this form! We often can bring on people later in the year if spots are still available.
  • (Currently taking classes on Cheney or Riverpoint campuses, or online)
  • To qualify for the McNair Scholar Program at Eastern Washington University, you must be enrolled at either the Cheney or Riverpoint campuses. If you are not a US citizen, permanent resident, or actively working towards citizenship, the federal regulations do not allow us to accept you as a scholar; however, we still want you to be supported in your dreams. Drop by our office and we would be happy to provide guidance on graduate school and connect you with resources.
