Ajaycia Butler is a Sophomore at Eastern Washington University, majoring in Biomedical Science along with a minor in Psychology. She is a first-generation student who would like to specialize in Hematology. Her interest in Biomedical science was sparked from reading her mom’s textbooks as a young girl. Ajaycia’s McNair research will focus on the physiology and function of abnormal red blood cells. She hopes her work will help improve the way physicians diagnose and treat Spherocytosis and related diseases. Ajaycia will conduct her McNair Summer Research Internship in the summer of 2023.
