Alejandro Tapia-Suarez

Alejandro Tapia Suarez is a first-generation college student and honors scholar pursuing a degree in Health Psychology at Eastern Washington University, with an expected graduation date of June 2027. Their academic journey began with the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), which supported their transition into higher education, followed by completion of the Running Start program to accelerate their academic progress. Alejandro has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning placement on the Dean’s List during both Running Start and their time at Eastern. As a participant in the McNair Scholars Program, they are developing the research skills, mentorship, and preparation necessary to pursue a Ph.D. and achieve their long-term goals. 

Off campus, Alejandro works as a one-on-one teaching assistant supporting children with behavioral challenges, providing individualized academic and behavioral support while fostering a positive learning environment. Their experiences have shaped a strong interest in brain-behavior relationships and working with diverse populations.  

Alejandro aspires to become a clinical neuropsychologist, using research and practice to improve outcomes for individuals with neurological and psychological conditions while expanding access to care for underserved communities.
