Student Friendly Callbacks

Student Contributor: JSmith
Student friendly callbacks are a technique that teachers use to get the students attention in a quick and fun way. This tool is helpful because it is an easy fun way to get students involved and not having to repeat yourself.

In school, many teachers over use the call back 123…eyes on me. This call back is used all the time and no matter how old you are you know what it means. Call backs should be used for transitions and as attention getters with your students to give more information or to get ready to move on to the next lesson or activity. Using a creative fun call back like “Ba Da Ba Ba Ba…..I’m listening” (McDonalds theme song) gets attention quickly and lets children know its time to turn your attention to the teacher because there is something important to be heard. When creating a call back you need to make sure that students know the protocol when they hear you say something the say it back and its time to take a time out and put full attention onto you.

I placed this tool in the preventive stage because to me it was the easiest fit for this tool. Since this tool is meant to keep students listening for a callback. By using this tool you will be able to see what kids are paying attention and ready to move on. This tool is Collaborative and Teacher Centered because it is set by a teacher in the first couple days of class. This keeps students knowing that when the call back is said they say it back and give their full attention to the teacher. This tool helps keeps the environment of the classroom friendly and fun which allows students to work together in a comfortable environment, and be successful.
