Mindset Journal

Student Contributor: H. Rayburn
This tool will help students work on growth mindset and eventually be more confident in their work.

In students’ notebook, they will take the mindset growth quiz at the start of each quarter. Overtime, students will be able to see how their mindset has changed and their improvement in the class. At the end of each week, students will have a mini self-reflection about their mind set and productivity in the class.
My mentor teacher started using this tool this quarter. This has helped students to become more confident in their work and take responsibility for their learning. When students are struggling in class or off task, we ask students to refer to their self-reflection and look at where they are on the scale and make a change if they feel they need to. This has promoted a great sense of accountability in students.

This tool belongs in the preventative phase. This is a tool that helps set up a students for success and take responsibility for their learning, which will help preventive undesired behaviors.

This is a student centered skill, that can also easily be applied in a collaborative classroom. Mindset Journals place the responsibility and accountability of learning on the student.
