Congratulations! We hope that this website will help make graduation a smooth and stress-free process so that we can successfully celebrate your accomplishments.
Step 1: Apply to Graduate!
In general, the deadline to apply to graduate is two quarters or the semester prior to the term that you are graduating. Both the undergraduate student deadline and the graduate student deadline can be found online.
Step 2: Pay your Graduation Fee
When you apply to graduate, your graduation fee is added to your student account. Your fees help pay for costs associated with processing of your application, the ordering of your diploma and the commencement ceremony. You can pay your graduation fees online through EagleNet.
Step 3: Save the date for the Commencement ceremony!
EWU celebrate its graduates at a Commencement ceremony once a year. To accommodate all of the graduates, the University usually offers three ceremonies:
- May Ceremony - for students taking courses in the semester schedule
- June Ceremony - morning (designated Colleges)
- June Ceremony - afternoon (designated Colleges)
Please share the ceremony dates with your family and friends so that they can save the date and make travel arrangements as necessary. Information for guest attending the ceremony can be found in the Friends, Family and Guests section of the website.
Note: All 2021 ceremonies will be virtual.
Step 4: Arrange for your Cap and Gown
To participate in the Commencement ceremony, you are expected to be dressed in appropriate graduation regalia.
Graduation attire is available for purchase from the Eagle Store beginning at the end of February until early June. Join the Eagle Store at their Grad Fair kick-off events. Grad Fair is an opportunity to order your cap and gown and purchase other graduation-related items. There are usually fun contests, chances to win prizes and special discounts.
Step 5: Consider Attending the End-of-Year Celebrations
Many of the colleges and programs will host individual celebrations to recognize your accomplishments. Check with your individual program for details.
Note: Any end-of-year celebrations this year will be virtual. Check with your college and/or program to see if there are any celebrations planned.
Step 6: Participate in the Ceremony
Tune in on June 12 during your college's ceremony:
- College of Social Sciences (CSS): 8:45 a.m.
- College of Business (COB): 11 a.m.
- College of Arts, Letters & Education (CALE): 1 p.m.
- College of Health Science & Public Health (CHSPH): 3 p.m.
- College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (CSTEM): 4:15 p.m.
Step 7: Fill out the Post-Commencement Survey
After participating in the ceremony, don't forget to provide us feedback! Fill out the post-ceremony survey. The survey will be available shortly after the June ceremonies.
Step 8: Receive your Diploma!
Your diploma will be mailed approximately six weeks after your graduating term. Make sure you've cleared all financial obligations with the university and that we have the correct address on file. For more information, visit the Diploma and Transcript Information page.
