Commencement Speaker: Casey Jackson
Casey Jackson is the founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Individual and Organizational Change (IFIOC). He has been training on Motivational Interviewing since 2002 and been part of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since completing the training with doctors William Miller and Theresa Moyers in 2008. Over the years he has provided over 3000 trainings to individual agencies, corporations, and government organizations including healthcare, mental health, substance use, law enforcement, justice/corrections, employment services, child welfare, and schools/universities. Casey passionately embraces his goal of empowering people to create the transformation they are seeking in their personal and professional lives.
Casey has worked in the human service field for over 30 years. For the 16 years prior to IFIOC, he was the Director of Training and Technical Assistance for the Washington Institute for Mental Health Research and Training through Washington State University at the Washington Institute for Mental Health Research and Training. He is internationally recognized for his trainings on effective communications and Change Management in organizations and government. Aside from training the spectrum of professions throughout the US, Mr. Jackson has been invited to present on strategic communication and the impact on organizational change in Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, and Poland. Mr. Jackson is the lead author on the internationally recognized communication fidelity tool, the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA). He has focused his training and consultation on creating change and improving outcomes for professionals, organizations, and the communities they serve.
Student Speaker: Chelsie Isom
Ms. Chelsie Isom (pronounced Chel-see Eye-sum), this year’s student speaker, is a certified medical assistant who returned to school a few years ago to pursue a degree and ultimately, a career as a physician assistant. Chelsie earned her Associate’s Degree from Spokane Community College, and then transferred to Eastern where she has excelled in the Health Sciences program. Chelsie lives in Spokane Valley, WA with her husband Thomas, and children Cameron and Kacey. During her time at Eastern, Chelsie has managed raising her young family, working full-time, and her education. Chelsie’s instructors recognize her as a hard-working student with love and compassion for the healthcare field. She has emerged as a true leader in her program.

A professional photographer will take at least one picture of each graduate as they receive their diploma cover. Graduates will be photographed with no obligation to purchase. Photos will be available for purchase through After Image Visual Services. Please visit their website 2-3 days after the ceremony to view a proof.
A limited number of flowers will be available for purchase in the Ballroom lobby. Flowers will be arranged by The Commencement Group and proceeds from the sale will benefit the EWU Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA).
