The EWU Self-Harm Response Plan is meant to provide an effective safety net for students in need, however this safety net is only as strong as our communication. With this in mind, Eastern community members are strongly encouraged to consult with the Dean of Students' Office (509-359-7924) regarding any student of concern, particularly students who have engaged in self-harm, thereby initiating an appropriate community response (such as welfare checks or an assessment by a professional counselor). See Crisis Checklist below.
If you are considering suicide, please consult with a professional counselor at Counseling and Psychological Services (509-359-2366). Walk-in hours at CAPS are available Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00p.m. After hours, please contact the Regional Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 877-266-1818. If you find it difficult to come to the Center, please speak with a friend, a CA, residence hall director, or professor. The staff at Eastern are here to help, and can assist in connecting you with an appropriate resource.
