What We Do

The JLR Multicultural Center is a “home away from home” for students of all backgrounds, folks of intersecting identities, and everyone engaged in building a welcoming EWU community. Our programs contribute to a transformative student experience through educational opportunities, interpersonal guidance, and holistic student development.

Our Programs

The JLRMC contributes to student retention at EWU through programming in the following areas:

EDUCATION

We promote knowledge and awareness through advocacy and workshops such as the Speaker Spotlight series.

COMMUNITY

We build a sense of belonging through the use of our space as well as programs like FAM, Pan Dulce y Chisme, and our quarterly Welcome Brunch.

STUDENT WELLBEING

We support holistic wellbeing through our annual clothing swap, drop-in counseling services in partnership with EWU Counseling and Wellness Services, exercise & dance events, and arts & crafts de-stressors.

CAMPUS & COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

We strengthen connections by linking students to campus and community resources, facilitating service-learning, and supporting student organizations.

Please request via EAGLESYNC following these steps:

Create an event and begin filling out event form
In the “WHERE” category
- select “other location”
- type “JLR Multicultural Center (PUB 329)”
- de-select the “TBD” option
In the “EWU Spaces” category…
- check the box for Multicultural Center (MCC)
Finish filling out form and submit! JLRMC staff will review request and confirm or deny based on availability.
