This tool is helpful because it allows for students to communicate with the instructor when they are working, and when they are ready to move on. This tool can be used individually per student or with groups. The cup will be flipped upside down when working, and right side up when the student(s) are ready for the next step.
The tool should be used for partner, group, or individual work. The tool is intended for students to be able to communicate with the instructor where they are at with their work. By a quick glance, the instructor can tell if the student(s) are ready to move on, or if more time is needed. The teacher is able to observe and check-in on students who are working for an extended amount of time. Ready-Stop-Go cups are great for partner or group work. The cup will be upside down for “stop” when the students are working. The cup will be right side up for “go” when the students are ready to continue with the lesson.
This is a supportive tool because of the ability to meet the students needs. The instructor and class will not continue on if a student is still working. The student is also able to get extra help quickly if the teacher sees the cup has not been flipped for, and a majority of the students are ready to move on. Ready-Stop-Go cups are a great communication tool to use in the classroom.
