Activist in Residence: The Art of Jacob Johns

January 29 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“Indigenous Wisdom and Climate Policy: A Path to a Sustainable Future”

EWU’s Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies Department invites you to experience the return of the Activist in Residence (AiR) program in Winter 2025. AiR consists of four workshops and related art exhibit. All are encouraged to join us and help spread the vocation of activism further within EWU and the regional community.

Our 2025 Activist in Residence and special speaker Jacob Johns is a Hopi and Akimel O’odham environmental defender who has worked tirelessly to protect water and prevent the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Jacob also expresses his activism through his art. Select works are on display in the Secrist Gallery, Jan. 15 – Feb. 19. To learn more about Jacob Johns, please visit this webpage:  https://www.backbonecampaign.org/jacob
