Letter from the Vice President: Campus Resources to Assist Students in Processing the Continued Brutality toward and Deaths of African Americans in our Country Expand

Dear Campus Community:

Like many of you I have been outraged, shocked and dismayed by the public lynchings we have recently witnessed.

As the mother of African American sons, this brutality is magnified. I know the fear and anguish we experience from oppressive systems that do not address the racism that exists in society.

However, I want to assure you that Eastern Washington University is committed to a climate that reflects, values and supports diverse students.

Your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance. If you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable, there are trained professionals on campus to assist you. Our services are open and available to you. We have provided resources below to assist you.

It is my hope that Higher Education can utilize its vast expertise in some small way to bring all people together, to educate and celebrate differences and most of all to focus on the worth of each individual.

Sincerely,
Dr. Shari Clarke
Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion
