We are still here
And
We CARE!
We know this probably feels a little scary and overwhelming.
But we are happy to connect with you (even though it can't be in person)
to provide support and resources.
Dear EWU community members,
The Student Care Team is committed to serving the campus community, and to serving students who may be experiencing personal challenges as the campus transitions to virtual classrooms and services. The health and safety for our students, faculty, and staff is top priority for Eastern Washington University, therefore the Dean of Students and the Student Care Team office staff have temporarily suspended all in-person services due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Our office staff are currently working remotely, but remain available to serve the campus community. We are retrieving phone messages regularly between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, and will respond to your messages in the order received and as quickly as possible. Michelle Helmerick, Student Care Team Manager, is available to meet with students using Zoom or other communication applications. Other Student Care Team members are available to assist students as needed.
The timeliest way to reach a member of the Dean of Students staff or member of the Student Care Team is by sending a referral via one of our online report forms. Our office staff will respond to phone messages within 1 business day via phone or email (509-359-7924 or dos@ewu.edu). For students, to ensure that we assist you effectively, please make sure you clearly identify your first and last name, your student ID number, and your eagle email address when leaving either a voice or e-mail message. For faculty or staff, please provide full name, your department, and your preferred contact information so we can best respond to your concerns and provide assistance.
If you are concerned for the well-being of a student, please complete an online ICARE referral form below. If you are a student needing support or resources, please submit your information using the Student Intake Form below.
The Student Care Team is not intended to serve as first-responders to emergencies – if you need immediate assistance, please contact University Police at 9-1-1 or (509) 359-7676.
The Student Emergency Fund (SEF) provides limited, one time, financial assistance when you are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of a temporary emergency. Given the limited amount of funds, not all requests can be approved even though there may be a clear need for assistance.
Situations that are longer-term or require more substantial funding, such as loss of job, reoccurring rent/utilities, larger medical expenses, etc. will be referred to the Financial Aid Office for a more in-depth review of possible funding options.
Eastern Washington University takes reports of sexual harassment and assault, relationship violence, and stalking seriously.
