At EWU, we have two distinctly different website environments. The first is www.ewu.edu, or the “external” website managed by the MarCom team at EWU. The second is inside.ewu.edu or the “internal” website managed by the web team located under Instructional Technology. While both websites use the WordPress content management system, they do so in distinctly different ways, which are essential to understand.
How Are They Different?
The external website (www.ewu.edu) provides a platform to publish information on academic programs, courses, colleges, student life, admissions information, financial aid, college leadership, and the latest news and events regarding EWU. You must submit a request to start the process if you need to manage or create content on an external website. Once your submission is received, you will be contacted and queued into the process.
The internal website (inside.ewu.edu) provides a platform to post news, announcements, and events and access technical, professional, and academic tools and services, including online forms that include workflow and approval functionality, protected pages, knowledge bases, and much more. Peruse the website directory, and you will see the wide range of clients served by the inside.ewu.edu platform. If you manage or need to manage a part of inside.ewu.edu or need to request a completely new website, submit a support ticket, and we will respond as appropriate.
Content Strategies
ewu.edu
Student-First Strategy
The website aims to help our diverse students and their families find the information they need.
For example, if the College of Health Science and Public Health wanted to add a new degree option to the Department of Dental Hygiene, it would be published on ewu.edu.
inside.ewu.edu
Constituent-First Strategy
The goal is to help the wide range of EWU constituents build web solutions that meet the needs of both internal and external audiences.
For example, if Facilities wanted to build sophisticated form workflows that helped track departmental personnel’s vacation requests and daily work logs, the content and the forms would be located inside.ewu.edu.
