With this tool students who want help from the teacher can clip their name on the hand in the front of the classroom. This way the teacher can know what students want their help and in what order to help them.
The Waiting for Teacher tool is designed to help students receive help from the teacher during independent work time. With this student’s paper clip their name to the raised hand at the front of the room to indicate they want help from the teacher. This creates a little line of names on the hand to indicate the order in which students put their names there. The teacher can then work their way down the list. This way students don’t need to raise their hands or try to get the teacher’s attention. They can keep working as they wait for the teacher.
I put this in the preventative phase because it gives a sort of routine to how to approach getting help from the teacher. Because of that, this strategy can prevent distractions of students arguing to get teacher attention or being unable to complete their work while they are waiting for the teacher because they are standing in line or raising their hand waiting. I think this also prevents frustrations with the students not knowing when they will get their questions asked because they know and can see where they stand in line, and how many more people the teacher needs to help before them. This is more collaborative on the theories of influence because it benefits both the students and teacher because the student can use this as a resource when they need help and they could also help establish the expectations for it, but this is a tool that the teacher uses to see who needs their help and who they help next.
