Classroom Expectations

Student Contributor: K. Schlagel
Classroom expectations can be used to come up with expectations as a class. This will set boundaries and expectations for the year and will be hung up in the classroom for students to refer back to.

The tool would be implemented in the beginning of the year. Students and the teacher will work together and collaborate to make classroom expectations. In my personal experience having students come up with their own expectations has worked best. They can all work together to make them and then the teacher can write them and help them make the expectations more clear. This helps students feel like they have a say in how the classroom will be ran.

It relates to the preventative phase because students will come up with expectations when school begins so they have something to go off of for the year. It could also go under the supportive phase because it does support good classroom management, but I think making it a preventative phase is best. Having it be preventative will set the expectations from the start, making management easier from the beginning.
