Get Lit! Book Club

Sun, February 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This month we will be reading “Cipota Under the Moon” by Claudia Castro Luna. Luna was the Washington Poet Laureate from 2018-2021. Her work is inspired by her experience immigrating to the US from El Salvador when she was 14. “In lush prose poems, musical tankas, and free verse, Castro Luna affirms that the desire for light and life outweighs the darkness of poverty, violence, and war.” This meeting will take place on Sunday, February 25th at 6pm above the mezzanine of Auntie’s bookstore. I have also left some reviews and interviews from last night’s book “Unexpected Weather Events.” If you’re interested in looking through those, it is at the bottom of this email!

In March, we will be reading a book by our headliner, Carmen Maria Machado, titled “In the Dream House.”
