MATH Placement
With very few exceptions (college-level course work being the most common exception) all students must take the ALEKS math placement exam before they can register for math courses at Eastern Washington University. ALEKS is a proctored computer-based assessment that can be completed at the university campus or online for an additional fee. Visit the EWU Math Placement website HERE to sign up for testing.
For students starting in Fall 2021, EWU will recommend a placement that considers your past experience with mathematics as well as other factors that indicate student success, such as your cumulative GPA. At the beginning of April, we will open a Math Placement Self-Report Form, where you will use your high school transcript and AP, IB, or CLEP test scores (if applicable) to submit requested information.
ENGLISH Placement
Most students will not need to take the English placement test, as ACT, SAT, IELTS or TOEFL scores, as well as high school grades, will determine placement.
For more information, see the English placement test website.
