Library Support and Updates – Winter 2023

Dear faculty,
I hope you all have had a good beginning of the winter quarter. I would like to use this opportunity to reach out to you and remind you that as your subject librarian, I’m available to provide library support to you and your students. Please feel free to contact me if you need to schedule a library instruction session for your class. I will be happy to work with you and provide library instruction to your students.
Another way I can support your students’ learning is by designing library course-specific guides that are tailored to your assignments and your students’ research needs. Besides classroom instruction, I am always happy to work with your students individually and meet with them either in person or via Zoom for a research consultation.

Another piece of news I would like to share with you is that, beginning this quarter, we are offering a for-credit library research course, LIBR 210 Introduction to Academic Research. It introduces students to the core concepts of information literacy and teaches them transferrable library research skills that can be used to improve their ability to conduct independent research in upper level undergraduate and graduate courses. If you have any students who you believe may benefit from this course, feel free to mention it to them.

Finally, I would like to alert you to our library newsletter that is available online at: https://www.ewu.edu/library/stories/category/newsletter/ Feel free to check it out to learn more about library-related news and updates about library services and upcoming events.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of any help to you and your students. I look forward to working with all of you this quarter and in the spring!

Thanks!

Liya
