Guiding Students Overview

As a program director, you play a central role in helping students through graduate study. In academic matters, it is critical to ensure effective advising among faculty, fair distribution of funding, clear articulation of program requirements, consistent mentoring, and the development of academic skills and knowledge of ethical standards.

It is imperative to provide students with:

  • Clear, specific, and prompt guidance about any preparation steps they must take prior to starting your program.
  • Ensure that incoming students receive the academic advising information they need to successfully navigate EagleNet and enroll in the correct classes for their first academic term.
  • Publish a degree plan on your website that allows students to plan their class schedule for each term and complete their degree in a timely manner.
  • Timely response to phone calls and emails, especially over the summer.
