Research Interests

Dr. Gus Nollmeyer has a number of research interests that revolve around transforming elementary classrooms into places that students love to be and places where they are incredibly successful both academically and socially. Therefore, he is interested in project-based learning, subject-area integration, scientific inquiry, and classroom management.

Current & Recent Projects

Currently, Gus is working on several different projects. One project that is nearing completion, is as study comparing preservice teachers’ growth in content knowledge through differing inquiry-based teaching methods. Data collection has taken several years but will be done soon. The results should be informative. A second project, still in the early days is a project-based unit. The project was developed and taught a couple years ago. Now, the work will shift to using the unit in a study of student knowledge and skill acquisition.
