Emma Noyes (Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation) is an artist and author transfixed with the geography of story. She is committed to creating a visual and written universe of tribal plateau indigeneity and dedicated to creating a future where Native peoples thrive and enjoy whole-person wellness through connection to culture and community. Her book Baby Speaks Salish is an illustrated language manual for adults interested in adding more Colville-Okanagan Salish into their daily interactions with children and includes a graphic novel style story of her family's experience with language loss and language learning. Emma is a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and also has Danish immigrant roots. Emma, her husband Jake LaMere, and their family live and work in the traditional homelands of the Spokane Tribe in Spokane, Washington.
