Keynote Address: Loud, Twitchy, and Unapologetic
Presented by Michelle Mowrey
Noon to 1pm
PUB NCR
What do people think Tourette’s is? Usually, a punchline or a stereotype. But the reality is a whole lot more complicated — and a lot more human. In this keynote, Michelle Mowrey shares her personal journey of being diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome in her late teens, breaking down the myths, the awkward moments, and the challenges that come with it. Through humor, honesty, and storytelling, Michelle explores what it really means to live — and thrive — with Tourette’s. From misconceptions to complications, she’ll dive into how this syndrome has shaped her life and how she’s learned to own her story, unapologetically. Join us for a conversation that’s loud, a little twitchy, and full of heart.
Michelle Mowrey serves as the Director of Student Engagement and the PUB at Eastern Washington University, where she supports student involvement, leadership development, and campus events. An Eagle through and through, Michelle earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from Eastern. Diagnosed with Tourette’s in her late teens, Michelle is passionate about sharing her personal journey to raise awareness and foster understanding around Tourette Syndrome. Outside of work, she loves reading, working out, and spending time with her family. She’s also proud to call herself Swoop’s biggest fan.
