Swoop is EWU’s friendly AI chatbot designed to check in with you, answer your questions, and help you navigate university life. Through short text messages, Swoop keeps up with how you’re doing in areas like academics, finances, campus life, well-being, and anything else that might affect your success.

By responding to Swoop or texting questions anytime, day or night, you help EWU understand what students are experiencing in real time. This means we can offer support early, before small challenges turn into big problems. Swoop also helps build a virtual community where your input directly shapes the way EWU supports students.

How Swoop Helps Students


Swoop regularly checks in to see how you’re doing, both in and out of the classroom. Whether you’re juggling work, adjusting to campus life, or feeling stressed, Swoop can guide you to the right EWU staff, resources, and support.

You can text questions like:

  • “How do I schedule an advising appointment?”
  • “Where can I find scholarship applications?”
  • “What should I do if I’m struggling in a class?”

Swoop gives instant answers and guidance so you can get help right away.
All new EWU undergraduates will get a welcome text from Swoop. Save Swoop as a contact and text anytime. Participation is free, and your responses help EWU provide personalized support just for you.

There are several reasons why you might not be able to reach Swoop.

Swoop has not sent you the introductory text message.

  1. You are not currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in courses at EWU.
  2. You replied “STOP” to a text message from Swoop.
  3. Your cell phone number on your student profile is either incorrect or has not been provided. To update it, please head to your personal information in EagleNet

When you text Swoop:

If you indicate that you need extra support, a human being will follow up with you. That might be your academic advisor or someone else from our student support team. It all depends on what assistance you need. So remember to check your EWU email often to see if anyone has reached out to you.
