Important Terms to Know

Remember these!

  • Major Specific Requirements: Established courses and GPA that must be completed to help meet graduation requirements.
  • University Graduation Requirements: A set of requirements that students must satisfy to graduate. This may include a minimum number of credits, passing required courses, and general education reequipments such as GPA.
  • Undeclared/Undecided: A student who may be exploring or is unsure about their major.
  • Lower Division: Any course numbered between the 100 and 299 level.
  • Upper Division: Any course numbered between the 300 and 499 level.
  • Pathway/Remedial/Development Courses: Any course that is taken to help students improve their reading, writing, and/or math skills so they could succeed at the college level.
  • Prerequisite Requirement: Some courses may have particular requirements that must be met prior to enrolling in a course. For instance, a course may require students to take a particular course, being of a certain academic standing (sophomore, junior, senior), be a certain major, etc.
