Noyce Scholars
Christopher Wells III was born and raised in Tacoma, WA and is now currently attending EWU. At EWU he is focused on obtaining his BS in Biology and his BAE in Secondary Biological Education.
Miranda Lambert, is originally from Spokane, WA. Here at EWU, she focusing on getting a BA in Chemistry and a BAE in Secondary Education. I transferred to Eastern in 2021 after graduating from Spokane Falls Community College with my Assocaites of Science degree.Madi Knight is finishing up a BS in Mathematics and then will continue to pursue a BAE in Secondary Mathematics Education. She is a hurdler/long-jumper for Eastern Washington University and her hometown is Walla Walla, Washington. She is passionate about mathematics and look forward to educating students in the future.
Drake Worthington-Frare is in his second year at Eastern Washington University studying BS Mathematics and BS Mathematics Education. He transferred here after attending Columbia Basin College in his hometown of Tri-Cities, Washington.Carissa Morrison is pursuing a BS and triple majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, and Science Education, and double minoring in Mathematics, and Psychology. She is a transfer student from Pierce Community College in Puyallup Wa, her hometown. Three of her favorite things include cats, science jokes, and science jokes about cats!
Natalie Barton is currently working towards a BAE in Biology Secondary Education as well as a BS in Biology. She was a running start student who transferred from Spokane Falls Community College with an AS in Biology.Emily Hamada is pursuing a BS in Biology and a BAE in Secondary Education. She is expecting to graduate in the Spring of 2023. She also presented her research at the Noyce Summit in July 2022.
Katie Janzen is currently working on a BA in Physics and a BAE in secondary education. She is a transfer from Spokane Falls Community College. She was born and raised in Spokane, WA.Isabel Sanchez is pursuing a Bachelors in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Bachelors in Mathematics. She is from Connell Washington and transferred from Columbia Basin College.
Danaca Colvin is currently working towards earning her BS in Biology as well as a BAE in Secondary Biology Education. Her hometown is Wilbur, WA.Rosa Placido-Barajas is from Ephrata, Washington and a transfer student from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. She is working toward her BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Math Education.
Jerald Flores's current discipline degree is a BS in Biology. Focusing on skills to improve the well-being and success of future students. Originally born and raised in the Philippines.Ivy Tietsort graduated with her BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2019 and completed her teaching certification in 2020. Ivy received the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Biology award in 2019 and is teaching at Valley School in Valley, Washington.
Charles Bland transferred from Spokane Falls Community College and completed his BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Mathematics Education in Spring 2022. He was awarded the Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Graduate for his exceptional performance in the Secondary Mathematics program. He also presented his mathematics research at the Noyce Summit in July 2022. Charles is from Abilene, TX, but considers Spokane his new home.Hunter Lee completed a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. In 2019, Hunter received the award, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Biology. Hunter is teaching AP Environmental Science, Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry at Almira Coulee Hartline High School.
Jennifer Nichols graduated in 2020, then taught middle school math and science in Enumclaw. She will be starting at a new district in Fall 2022 to teach high school physics. While she loves teaching science, she loves building relationships with her students even more.Toni Cloud graduated from EWU in December 2021 with a BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Mathematics Education. She student-taught and continued teaching full time at Mary Walker High School in Springdale, Washington.
Kerista Goodpaster. Change hers to: Kerista Goodpaster is a math teacher and coach at Shadle Park High School, teaching Algebra 2 and Intermediate Mathematics. The Noyce Program helped her find her dream job! Go Highlanders!Nicholas Henry transferred from Spokane Falls Community College and graduated from EWU with a BS in Chemistry and a minor in physics, and a BAE in Secondary Education. He participated in the STAR program funded by NSF. Nicholas’s research consisted of finding less toxic alternatives for TVs and Computer Monitors.
Shane Lucht earned his BS in Biology and BAE in Secondary Education. He transferred to EWU with an AS-DTA in Biology from Spokane Falls Community College. He is teaching at Savannah Classical Academy in Savannah, Georgia.Cezar Sanchez transferred from Colombia Basin College and earned a BS in Mathematics and BAE in Mathematics Education, graduating in Spring 2022. Cezar is a STAR Fellowship alumni from summer 2019.
Aaron Serrano is from Pasco, Washington and completed his BS Mathematics and BAE in Secondary Mathematics after student teaching at Pasco High School in December 2021 with Noyce Advisory Board member and EWU alumni, Constantino Montes.Natasha Usai was born and raised in Spokane, Washington; and transferred from Spokane Falls Community College. She earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She began teaching at Rogers HS in Spokane in Fall 2021 and is currently teaching Physics and Chemistry.
Misha Lehmann (they/them/theirs) is a Stanford transfer who completed their BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Math Education at EWU. They also completed a Master’s Degree in curriculum and instruction at EWU in Spring 2022. Misha will create inclusive and innovative curricula.Anson Levine completed his BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Math Education with a minor in Physics Education in December 2022 while student teaching full time at Riverside HS. He continued on as a full time teacher at Riverside HS.
Thomas Hall completed a BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Education in December 2021. He’s from Spokane, and was a running start student who attended EWU!Jacob Ott. In 2019, Jacob received the award, Outstanding Graduating Senior in Biology. He is currently teaching in Washtucna School District (6th-12th grades).
Jesse Hannum was born and raised in Spokane, WA. He completed his BS in Biology and a Chemistry Minor after already completing a BA in English as a Second Language with a Japanese Minor. Jesse completed his teaching credentials in the summer of 2022 and is teaching hybrid science and CTE courses at Three Springs School in Cheney.Jeremiah Taylor graduated with a BS in Biology and a BAE in Secondary Biology Education. He is teaching at Centennial Middle School.
Riley Kent completed his BA in Teaching English as a Second Language, a BS in biology and BAE in secondary education at EWU. He transferred from the Everett Community College’s Ocean Research College Academy program. He starts teaching at Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Washington in the Fall of 2022.Tedra Moorhead transferred to EWU from Spokane Community College in fall 2017 and is a former Running Start Student. She graduated in fall 2021 with a BA in Biology, a BAE in Science Education, and a minor in Chemistry.
Tabetha Brock completed her BS in Mathematics and her BAE in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2020 and teaches at Othello HS in Othello, WA.Ian Lynch earned a BS in Mathematics and a BAE in Secondary Mathematics Education. He transferred to EWU from our partner, Spokane Falls Community College. Since 2019, Ian has been teaching at Colville High School.
Alexandria (Alex) O'Neal has graduated with a BAE in Secondary Education and a BA in Chemistry with a minor in Special Education.Acecia Carr graduated with a BA in Chemistry/Biochem with a minor in Physics, and a BAE in Chemistry/Biochem Education. She is teaching in Medical Lake Highschool
Callie MettieCallie Mettie graduated with a BS in Mathematics and earned her teaching credentials in Secondary Mathematics. She taught for one year at Omak Middle School.Alan CoumbsAlan Coumbs completed his BS in Mathematics and teaching credentials to teach secondary mathematics in summer 2022.
Lucille (La Chance) Scott completed her BA in Biology and her BAE in Biology Education and teaches at West Valley High School in Spokane Valley.Danielle Klinzing previously earned her undergraduate and graduate Biology degrees and completed a BAE in Secondary Biology Education at EWU.
Drake Haren earned a BA in Biology and a BAE in Secondary Biology Education.  He is teaching at Three Springs (Cheney Alternative High School).
