The Faculty Budget Committee invites all full-time or continuously employed faculty to submit proposals for a Supplemental Budget Request during Fiscal Year 2026, July 1st, 2025 to June 30th, 2026. This opportunity seeks to fund initiatives that enhance and support student experiences, providing resources to improve academic success, engagement, and overall student satisfaction. This RFP encourages faculty to submit innovative proposals aligned with EWU’s strategic plan and priorities to effectively serve a diverse student body. Please see the following RFP announcement and related documents for submission by February 28th, 2025.
Priorities
The primary priorities of this funding are to:
- Enhance support systems for student learning and engagement.
- Foster and assess research-based innovative instructional practices and learning experiences.
- Develop programs that support the diverse academic and personal needs of EWU students.
- Build collaborations across departments and disciplines to design and team-teach courses.
- Expand beginning student experiences through research, creative works, or service-learning exposure opportunities.
- Create faculty training or specialized modules that support and enhance faculty performance.
Proposal Focus Areas
Proposals should address one or more of the following areas:
- Academic and Advising Support: Enhancements to tutoring, advising, mentoring, or other academic support initiatives.
- Student Engagement: Programs designed to increase student involvement, retention, and connection with campus life.
- Learning Environments: Improvement or development of facilities, technology, and resources that elevate the learning experience.
- Faculty-Student Research/Creative Works and Collaboration: Opportunities for hands-on learning and student involvement in faculty-led research projects.
Proposal Submission Requirements
- Proposal Narrative: up to 2 double-spaced pages detailing the project’s objectives, plan/method, timeline, and anticipated outcomes. This should include how the proposal addresses selected priority/priorities and focus area(s).
- A supplemental addendum may be included, but is not required (e.g. data, context, additional funding sources).
- Budget Justification: See the attached Supplemental Budget Template for proposed expenses, including personnel, materials, technology, and other relevant costs.
- Impact Statement: Explanation of how the project will enhance student experience and success at EWU.
- Sustainability Plan: Description of long-term viability and potential continuation beyond initial funding.
Submission Instructions
- Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by February 28, 2025.
- Submission Format: Please submit all materials electronically to the Academic Affairs office at provost@ewu.edu. All submissions will be forwarded by the provost’s office to department chairs and college deans for approval.
- Review Process: Proposals will be evaluated based on alignment with Evaluation Rubric for Faculty Supplemental Budget RFP.
Total Funding Available
- Total funding available for distribution is $150,000 during Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026). Proposals of any dollar amount are welcome.
- Awarded proposals are required to present their work and outcomes with a 1 page report and presentation during Fall term 2026.
