To help Eastern students and faculty take full advantage of the rich library resources and services that support their learning and teaching needs, the JFK Library offers a variety of programs, including ENGL 101/201 library instruction, course-related library instruction, workshops, library tours, and orientation sessions.
As your liaison, I will be happy to assist you with the following:
- Teaching one or more library sessions for your class.
- Integrating library research tools into your Canvas course space.
- Helping you create assignments involving use of library resources.
- Scheduling a meeting to discuss possible instructional offerings.
Using the following request form, you can schedule a library instruction session with me. You will be able to choose the options that work best for you.
My goal is to design and deliver the best learning experience possible and make sure that students acquire appropriate information literacy skills that will facilitate their lifelong learning and productivity.
To make the library instruction more effective, I encourage you to do the following:
- Incorporate library instruction into your regular class time.
- Attempt to be with your class during the library instructional session.
- Have an existing class assignment that uses the principles we teach.
- Schedule the instruction session based on the assignment due date.
To ensure that I am available for library instruction on the dates you need, please submit your requests as early as possible in the quarter so that I have adequate time to plan and prepare your session.
Finally, it will be very helpful if you can include your syllabus and/or your assignment when you make your request. I use them only to define which areas to focus on and determine the appropriate instructional objectives and student learning outcomes for your class.
Thank you!
