Faculty Load and Compensation
Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) is a module within the Banner system that serves as a collaborative tool for the disbursement of payments related to both instructional and non-instructional term job assignments. This web-based platform significantly streamlines the payment process, rendering the manual paper contract system obsolete.

In pursuit of business modernization, slated for full implementation by the fall quarter of 2025, the foremost objective of this project is to achieve a comprehensive and accurate understanding of faculty assignments and workloads. To attain this, it is necessary to standardize existing procedures across all academic departments. and establish an improved mechanism for monitoring faculty activities, ensuring equitable and timely compensation.
The current process for handling faculty load and compensation is largely manual, leading to challenges, including inaccuracies in faculty workload, departments not following the same processes and a lack of documentation that can be audited easily. The challenge stems from upwards of six distinct systems for handling these matters, necessitating a streamlined and simplified approach.
The project’s success lies in adopting FLAC (Faculty Load and Compensation) to manage faculty workloads and remuneration. This initiative is significant as it is the confluence of the modernization of business processes and information systems around managing approximately $82 million dollars of labor costs and over 1,000 faculty personnel actions annually.
