Project HOPE

Project HOPE has been suspended for the summer of 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

We are looking forward to launching the program again for the summer of 2022. The EWAHEC is partnering with the AHEC for Western Washington, housed at Whatcom Community College, to make Project HOPE statewide beginning in 2022!

Project H.O.P.E. (Health Occupations Preparatory Experience) is a four-week, paid summer internship program offered to high school students at health care facilities within the student’s local community.  Students who are first-generation college bound, from rural areas, or from populations that are under-represented in the health professions are encouraged to apply.  Student interns rotate through several settings within one facility to gain maximum exposure to a variety of health professions.

Project H.O.P.E. interns receive a stipend for participating in the program.  The stipend is paid at the end of the internship and upon receipt of a journal documenting the student’s activities in the health care setting.
