Two Poems by Adrian C. Louis<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Ghost Road<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere<\/p>\n\n\n\n

nowhere  &<\/p>\n\n\n\n

her  not  here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

& nothing but<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a weird & weary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

recitation of ever<\/p>\n\n\n\n

changing  songs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to a whole brain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to a broken brain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to a dead brain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to a ghost brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In dreams I wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n

for the  ghost  brain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to devour the broken<\/p>\n\n\n\n

& become whole again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am no factotum of despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do worship ancient hungers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

& chins dribbling blood, but I<\/p>\n\n\n\n

am so tired of the taste of my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunset at the Indian Cemetary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not one of the red seeds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

planted will ever sprout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pray for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A chunk of yellow fat,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the winter sun is circled<\/p>\n\n\n\n

by gaunt prairie crows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pray for the crows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pray into the lung-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

shocking, cold wind<\/p>\n\n\n\n

shrieking freakishly into<\/p>\n\n\n\n

these boundless yucca hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pray for all those who believe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

our DNA  is forever tainted<\/p>\n\n\n\n

by the cosmic, brilliant<\/p>\n\n\n\n

truth that we have been<\/p>\n\n\n\n
