You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae. Your benefit will be based on your length of active duty service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tuition and fee payments<\/strong> paid by the VA directly to the school (EWU student&#8217;s account) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA)<\/strong> paid directly to student via direct deposit from the VA.  Rates are based on location of the school campus ad eligibility percentage rate.  View rates online at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/gi-bill-comparison-tool\/\">GI Bill Comparison Tool<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Textbook Stipend <\/strong>paid directly to student via direct deposit from the VA.  Based on number of credits taken per quarter, up to $1,000 per academic year.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Transfer of Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae Benefits to Dependents (TEB)<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The transferability option under the Post-9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae allows qualified service members to transfer all or some unused benefits to their spouse or dependent children.  View eligibility guidelines via VA website:&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/transfer-post-9-11-gi-bill-benefits\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/transfer-post-9-11-gi-bill-benefits\/\">transfer Post-9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae<\/a> benefits to a spouse or child<\/strong>. <br>Children and surviving spouses of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2011 may qualify for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/survivor-dependent-benefits\/fry-scholarship\/\"><strong>Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Enrollment verification for&nbsp;Post-9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae (Chapter 33) students <\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollment verification started January 2022 for for Post-9\/11 GI Bill students to verify that they have remained enrolled in the same courses or training every month. Students who receive MHA\/kicker payments&nbsp;<strong>will have their payments withheld<\/strong>&nbsp;if they fail to verify or report that they are no longer enrolled in their courses or training.&nbsp;Students can do this&nbsp;<strong>via text message<\/strong>, email or phone. Refer to VA website for more information at: <a href=\"https:\/\/benefits.va.gov\/gibill\/isaksonroe\/verification_of_enrollment.asp\"><strong>VA Enrollment Verification Post 9\/11<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-contrast-color has-css-opacity has-contrast-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/other-va-education-benefits\/stem-scholarship\/\">Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship<\/a><\/strong> allows eligible Veterans using the Post-9\/11 GI Bill or dependents using the Fry Scholarship to get added benefits. This scholarship provides up to 9 months (or $30,000) of benefits for training in high-demand fields. You may qualify for VR&amp;E if this is true for you. This program, also known as Chapter 31 or VR&amp;E, helps you explore employment options and address education or training needs. In some cases, your family members may also qualify for certain benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply online via VA.GOV at:  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/careers-employment\/vocational-rehabilitation\/how-to-apply\/\"><strong>Veteran Readiness and Employment<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tuition and fee payments<\/strong> paid by the VA directly to the school (EWU student&#8217;s account) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Books <\/strong>paid by the VA arranged through the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This benefit provides a monthly stipend paid by the VA as arranged with VR&amp;E Case Manager when assessment occurs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I have been approved for Chapter 31, what do I do now?<\/strong><br>1.&nbsp; Get in contact with the EWU VRC Staff in Showalter Hall Room 122.<br>2.&nbsp; Turn in your schedule to VRC office when you have registered for current term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-contrast-color has-css-opacity has-contrast-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-4 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:30px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\"><strong>Montgomery GI Bill<\/strong>\u00ae &#8211; Active Duty (Chapter 30)<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<a class=\"gb-button gb-button-69583ffa gb-button-text\" href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/veterans\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/122\/2025\/10\/EWU-VRC_Chapter-30-Montgomery-GI-Bill-Active-Duty_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MGIB-AD CH30 Fact Sheet<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/gibill\/mgib_ad.asp\">Montgomery GI Bill\u00ae &#8211; Active Duty<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong>(MGIB-AD), otherwise known as Chapter 30, provides education benefits to veterans and service members who have at least two years of active duty, and who aren&#8217;t qualified for the Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae (Chapter 33) or don&#8217;t wish to convert to it yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This benefit is paid by the VA monthly while in classes, directly to the student via direct deposit.
