The Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of active duty service on or after September 11, 2001, or for individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae. Your benefit will be based on your length of active duty service.<\/p>\n\n\n

Transfer of Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae Benefits to Dependents (TEB)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The transferability option under the Post-9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae allows Service members to transfer all or some unused benefits to their spouse or dependent children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The request to transfer unused GI Bill\u00ae benefits to eligible dependents must be completed while serving as an active member of the Armed Forces.  The Department of Defense (DoD) determines whether or not you can transfer benefits to your family. Once the DoD approves benefits for transfer, the new beneficiaries will need to apply for them at VA via their online application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
