Welcome to Flight Academy<\/strong>, Eastern Washington University\u2019s three-tiered leadership development program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program recognizes the leadership experiences you are already<\/em> involved in and helps you grow intentionally as a leader throughout your time on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight Academy includes three levels of leadership development:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Emerging Leader<\/strong> (Foundational Engagement)
    <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Rising Leader<\/strong> (Active Learners)
    <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Soaring Leader<\/strong> (Advanced Leadership & Impact)
    <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Each level builds on the previous one, reflecting increased engagement, responsibility, and measurable impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

     Emerging Leader<\/strong>
    <\/strong> <\/strong><\/strong>Foundational Engagement<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

    Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Emerging Leader level focuses on participation and exploration<\/strong>. You build leadership awareness by engaging in campus and community experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This level is hours-based<\/strong>, meaning your participation is tracked by the number of hours you complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Participation Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Leadership opportunities are grouped into five categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Self-Awareness & Personal Growth<\/strong>
      <\/strong> Understanding your values, strengths, and leadership style
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Collaboration & Communication<\/strong>
      <\/strong> Teamwork, active listening, and inclusive leadership
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Critical Thinking & Ethical Decision Making<\/strong>
      <\/strong> Problem-solving and ethical leadership
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility<\/strong>
      <\/strong> Service-learning and community leadership
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Vision & Strategic Impact<\/strong>
      <\/strong> Event planning, risk management, and organizational leadership
      <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Your Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          To ensure your hours are counted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Register for events in EagleSync
            <\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Attend and complete the full event
            <\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Sign in or verify attendance as required
            <\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Monitor your progress throughout the year
            <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

             Rising Leader<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

            Active Learners<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            The Rising Leader level is for students who go beyond participation and demonstrate consistent engagement, initiative, and applied learning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            This level uses a points-based system<\/strong>, reflecting the depth of your leadership involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Points Structure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Each leadership activity is assigned a point value (1\u20135) based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • Depth of engagement

            • Leadership responsibility
              <\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Application of learning
              <\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Mentorship involvement
              <\/li>\n\n\n\n
