In this class we will discuss tropes and examples of\u00a0different types\u00a0of speculative fiction\u00a0worldbuilding, from\u00a0<em>Narnia<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0<em>The Expanse<\/em>.\u00a0We\u2019ll\u00a0analyze genre conventions and assess the strengths and weaknesses of related tropes in\u00a0different types\u00a0of stories and mediums, from building your own Dungeons and Dragons setting to planning out a sprawling intergalactic space opera. Based on our discussions and analysis,\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0do some preliminary\u00a0worldbuilding of our own, both in small groups and as a whole class.
