Even if taking in money is to defray expenses, it is considered a fundraiser when a group solicits donations, sell tickets or other items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Fundraising-nonprofit\u201d is a fundraising event where the proceeds from the event are given\/donated to a non-profit organization that holds a 501-C3 tax I.D. For example, Second Harvest, St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital or The Wounded Warrior Project.&nbsp; W-9 are required to process the donation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cFundraising-for-Profit\u201d is a fundraising event where the proceeds from the event are kept by the student organization and will be used for planning future events or activities hosted by the student organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clubs with on campus account may utilizes EWU Tax ID.&nbsp; However, keep in mind that EWU is not a charitable organization under IRS code 501-C3.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clubs cannot use state funds (S &amp; A) as \u201cseed money\u201d for its organization\u2019s fundraiser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-ewu-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-54495926d6ade0d20a0fcd3c3f3341e3\">Fundraising Policies<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-26972329\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A registered student organization must have prior approval by submitting an EagleSync event for fundraising, have their event approved, and clearly identify itself when raising funds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All registered student organizations must have a treasurer\/accountant and must ensure that funds are being tracked and monitored by a responsible individual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In raising funds, student organizations are required to adhere to all university rules and regulations and policies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fundraising activities shall comply with all state laws, licensing requirements, and tax laws.&nbsp; It is the responsibility of the student organizations to comply with such laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotional materials may acknowledge the assistance of non-university groups; however, student organizations may not conduct any activity that shall establish or extend fundraising privileges to campus for a commercial enterprise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student organizations may charge admission for activities such as dances or lectures providing that they are financial sponsors of the event.&nbsp; Student organizations may not charge an admission fee or collect donations if EWU or the ASEWU is paying for the main attraction in part or in whole.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student organizations may charge admissions for film and video showings provided they have obtained the proper copyright clearance.&nbsp; Each organization shall be responsible for procuring any necessary license for such showings.&nbsp; Student Engagement can inform you on how to get copyright permission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student organizations wishing to sell self-produced or self-made items (t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc.) must have prior approval through EagleSync and University Marketing &amp; Communications (MARCOM).&nbsp; Material that violates copyright laws will not be approved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If multiple student organizations are co-sponsoring a fundraising program, each organization is responsible for submitting an EagleSync event.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Because of strict state laws, individual students are not permitted to raise funds on campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fundraising Fundraising Overview Fundraising Policies<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":47129,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"wpo365_audiences":[],"wpo365_private":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-35846","page","type-page","status-publish"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/35846"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/47129"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=35846"}],"version-history":[{"count":8,"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/35846\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":35856,"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/35846\/revisions\/35856"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/saas\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=35846"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
