Internship Definition<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Throughout this webpage, \u2018internship\u2019 refers to a learning experience in which a  student works in an outside setting (e.g. local business, hospital, clinic, school, etc.) as part of their academic program. An internship may also be referred to as a \u2018clinical\u2019, \u2018practicum\u2019, or \u2018field study’.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter what the experience is called, the qualifying factors are that a student is: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. enrolled in an EWU academic program that includes the \u2018internship\u2019 as part of the requirements to complete the program,<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. present in a working environment, and,<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. participating in this internship with the knowledge, consent and approval of the EWU faculty\/department.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Intern Insurance – Professional Liability and Medical Malpractice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    EWU students who are participating in an internship, practicum, clinical, field study, or similar activity may be required to have Professional Liability insurance.  This insurance helps protect students against liability claims that may arise out of their internship activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
