Getting Started at the Wall
Who can use the Climbing Wall?
The Climbing Wall is FREE for students who are currently enrolled in classes and for community members with a current URC Pass. The URC Pass can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk.
Never been climbing? Let us help you get started!
To use the Climbing Wall on your own, you must first watch our five minute orientation video and sign our waiver. After the orientation, equipment is free to use while bouldering (climbing low to the ground without a rope).
Using the ropes - Top roping
Top roping constitutes climbing up to 30 feet using a rope. If you are new to top roping and would like to learn, we offer free belay certification classes every Wednesday and Friday from 7pm-9pm, and Saturday 2pm-4pm. Belay classes can also be scheduled by appointment.
For experienced climbers
If you have previous climbing experience, our staff can provide a proficiency test to asses your skills for both Top Rope and Lead Climbing.
We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced climbing classes that can be taken for credit or non-credit.
