PLUS Student Employees- Next Term Availability and Interest Form

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THEIR ENTIRETY: Please answer the following questions so that we can organize employee schedules. We will take into account your weekly availability to work per position (# hours) and your preferences for courses covered (first come, first served) including hours for prep time. It is very difficult to drop tutees or study groups part way through the quarter. If you are graduating or unable to work in one or more positions, please check the appropriate box(es) at the beginning of the form. If anything changes with regard to your schedule or the courses you are interested in covering, you must contact your direct supervisor ASAP (Samer (salrayes@ewu.edu) for coaching and office aides, Anna (atadlock@ewu.edu) for SI/study group PALS, drop-in tutoring, and etutoring, Brent (bolinger@ewu.edu) for tutoring.

Reminders about this form: Please reflect on what you can successfully take on for next term. We're here to support you, but students do rely on your ability to be consistent and available for sessions, and we rely on your timeliness to complete tasks and report updates. Filling this out doesn't guarantee you'll be assigned students as it is based on student demand and course needs as determined by the PLUS staff.

e.g. CHEM 100 - Love. Make sure that you feel comfortable tutoring them and received a 3.3 or higher in it (or if it is a really low-level course, have the knowledge base). Keep in mind that we often have many more requests for low-level courses than more challenging ones. We will do our best to assign you a mix of courses, with student need being met first. This will be first-come, first-served but is not guaranteed (it depends on what requests we receive).

How Many Study Groups Do You Have Time To Lead?
The number of hours that PALs are given are 3.5 per week. 1 hour for prep, .5 for faculty meetings, and 2 hours for sessions. If you have CRLA training to complete, you will receive an additional hour per week throughout the term. Semester PALs do not need to worry about CRLA training.

ETUTOR SCHEDULING
PLUS provides free access to an Online Tutoring platform that provides college students at multiple institutions across the Western US with access to etutoring (live sessions with audio/video/chat or posted questions). We provide one eTutor and the other institutions also provide one for various subjects (it takes a village!). This would require 3-5 hours per week and training time to learn the eTutoring platform. Tutors have set schedules online (e.g. T, Th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm). It is drop-in and usually in the evening. We do not schedule commitment-based group tutoring through this system.

This number of hours includes 1 hour of prep time (example: 5 hours = 4 small groups and 1 prep hr.). Minimum requirement is 5 hours; however. if you are unable to take 5 hours of work times at PLUS, please let your supervisor know ASAP. We will do our best to distribute hours according to requests.
