This page provides EWU investigators with the essential requirements, compliance deadlines, and instructions needed to prepare NIH and NSF\u2011compliant Biographical Sketches and Current &amp; Pending (Other) Support, along with guidance for other agencies adopting the Common Forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Must Comply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NIH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All <strong>Senior\/Key Personnel<\/strong> and any other individuals required by the Funding Opportunity Announcement must use <strong>SciENcv<\/strong> to generate and <strong>personally certify<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biographical Sketch (Common Form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current &amp; Pending (Other) Support (Common Form)<br>NIH requires the use of SciENcv for all applications, JIT, RPPR, and Prior Approval submissions with due dates <strong>on or after January 25, 2026<\/strong>, with a <strong>leniency period through May 2026<\/strong>.<br>In addition, NIH requires all senior\/key personnel to have an <strong>ORCID iD linked to their eRA Commons profile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NSF<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All <strong>Senior\/Key Personnel<\/strong> must use <strong>SciENcv<\/strong> to prepare Biosketches and Current &amp; Pending (Other) Support for proposals <strong>submitted or due on or after May 20, 2024<\/strong>.<br>NSF also requires use of <strong>ORCID<\/strong> as the persistent digital identifier for senior\/key personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">USDA (NIFA)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>USDA participates in the federal Common Forms initiative, and SciENcv is accepted for Biosketch and Current &amp; Pending Support requirements. FOAs specify the exact requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DOE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>DOE has formally adopted the federal Common Forms for Biosketch and Current &amp; Pending Support for financial assistance awards. FOAs govern implementation dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DoD and NASA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These agencies are implementing Common Forms under NSPM\u201133, but timelines vary by component. Always follow the specific FOA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROCESS OVERVIEW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Create or Update Your ORCID ID<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Register at ORCID.org<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Populate employment, education, funding, and works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Required for both NIH and NSF submissions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Link ORCID to your eRA Commons Account (NIH)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log into eRA Commons &#8212;-> Personal Profile &#8212;->  &#8220;Create or Connect your ORCID ID&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.  Access SciENcv<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log into SciENcv using eRA Commons, NSF, ORCID, or other supported credentials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect ORCID for automatic population of fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Generate Required Documents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NIH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biographical Sketch (Common Form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current &amp; Pending (Other) Support (Common Form)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Must be certified by the investigator.  Delegates may assist but <strong>cannot certify.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NSF<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biographical Sketch (Common Form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current &amp; Pending (Other) Support (Common Form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synergystic Activities (1-page separate PDF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5.  Add Delegates (Optional)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may authorize administrative staff to help prepare documents, but <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-ewu-red-color\">certification must be done by the individual investigator!<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.
