This policy outlines Eastern Washington University’s procedures for complying with federal research security training requirements under the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. It applies to all senior\/key personnel involved in federally funded research projects and ensures proper training, documentation, and certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Must Comply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All Principal Investigators (PIs) and senior\/key personnel listed on federal research proposals must complete approved research security training and maintain documentation. The PI is responsible for ensuring compliance and retaining records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Process Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Identify all senior\/key personnel for the proposal.
2. Ensure each senior\/key personnel complete approved research security training (see below).
3. PI collects and retains documentation of training completion.
4. Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) certifies compliance during proposal submission.
5. OGRD reviews and updates training options annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instructions for CITI Program Research Security Training (Combined):<\/strong>
1. Visit the CITI Program homepage at https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/index.cfm?pageID=14<\/a>.
2. Log in through ‘Log In Through My Organization’ and select Eastern Washington University, or register a new account and affiliate with EWU.
3. Once logged in, go to ‘Courses’ and click ‘Add a Course’.
4. Select the ‘Research Security Training (Combined)’ module. This single-module course includes the SECURE Center Consolidated Training Module (CTM) and covers disclosure, risk mitigation, international collaboration, and federal compliance topics.
5. Complete all sections and pass the quiz to receive a completion certificate (approximately 1 hour).
6. Download and save your certificate. Principal Investigators (PIs) must retain certificates for all senior\/key personnel involved in federally funded proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
